I haven't written anything since I finished Open University A215 at the beginning of June. The last three assignments were so intensive and I was glad to have a rest but now I've fallen out of any habit of writing,
bad bad bad. All is not lost though, I edited a couple of pieces and submitted them for the Bridport prize. A bit presumptuous of me since it is one of the most prestigious literary competitions. One piece was a short story and the other was flash fiction. The result isn't expected until October so now I need to forget about it.
I'm excited about starting A363, Advanced Creative Writing in October. In anticipation, I've joined a Facebook group called (innovatively), 'A363 October 2010 Advanced Creative Writing'. It's fairly quiet there at the moment but one or two people are talking about getting ahead and have bought the book and started the exercises. I don't intend to do that.
I've never used Facebook before, so it is quite an eye-opener for me. I don't really like networking sites and Facebook hasn't changed my mind in the week or so I've been accessing it. I'm hopeful though that the OU group on there will be lively once the course starts and will supplement my tutor group forum.
